CITY OF BALANGA, Bataan – As the lead agency tasked to steer the course of program development for persons with disabilities and the delivery of services to the sector, the Provincial Council on Disability Affairs (PCDA) chaired by Gov. Albert S. Garcia, through the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) is currently conducting a Forum on Autism at the Bulwagan ng Bayan 2, this City.
In keeping with one of its mandates, that is to develop a broad public information and dissemination program on disability prevention, rehabilitation, full participation and equalization of opportunities, the Council has invited Mr. Randy Tallorin, a licensed occupational therapist and the president of Autism Society of the Philippines (ASP)-Bataan Chapter to talk about the Dynamics on Autism its treatment, care and management. Ms. Jessica Nepomuceno, who is also a licensed occupational therapist and the owner of Reaching Hands Therapy Center located at Doña Francisca Subdn, this City will share her expertise on Handling Children with Special Needs.
In her Welcome Remarks, the indefatigable Mrs. Marilyn Tigas, PSWDO Head underscored the importance of keeping a positive hopeful attitude amid problems and challenges that we all face in life. She also said that since nobody is spared from stress, problems and “dalahin sa buhay” what is important is how we cope with them. She likewise pointed out that along with all these measures on coping with life’s challenges, she still opts for prevention.
Present in the forum are parents of children with autism, municipal focal persons of Persons with Disabilities (PWDs), officers of the Samahan ng mga Taong may Kapansanan sa Bataan (SATAMAKABA),Inc, and members of the PCDA.
