Finance officials laud Bataan for successful APEC events

BALANGA CITY, Bataan — Finance officials of the country commended the Bataan provincial government for successful staging of the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) events in the landmark resort Las Casas Filipinas De Acuzar in Bagac town.

Delegates from Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) member economies converged at the resort for the APEC Workshop on Fiscal Management through Transparency and Reforms and the APEC Senior Finance Officials’ Meeting from June 9 to 12.

During last Monday’s flag-raising ceremony, Gov. Albert Garcia echoed the good words of the government finance officials in the success of the APEC activities here.

He quoted Finance Assistant Secretary Didith Tan in her remark to Provincial Tourism Officer Ms. Tetchie Banzon, ““We have set the bar quite high when we hosted the APEC at the Las Casas Filipinas De Acuzar Bataan. It is very difficult to outdo it. Thanks for making it happen”.

The governor thanked local officials particularly in Bagac and capitol officers and employees for supporting the APEC events in the province.

Bataan had installed at least 60 closed-circuit television cameras particularly on roads leading to Bagac town prior to the APEC activity.

Las Casas Filipinas De Acuzar is a heritage resort park. Century-old houses from their original sites were transported and rebuilt on the 400-hectare land and recreated a charming village of cobblestone streets.

APEC delegates held activities at the magnificent Hotel De Oriente.
