A move to divide Bataan peninsula province into three congressional districts is a welcome move since it would mean more progress for the province, according to Nick Santiago Ancheta, municipal administrator of Bagac town.
Ancheta said the additional district would mean more income for the province and more infrastructure projects are coming up to develop the new district which will be composed of the municipalities of Orion, Limay and Mariveles.
Under House Bill No. 0199 filed by incumbent Bataan Second District Jose Enrique Garcia III, the first district will comprise the towns of Orani, Hermosa, Dinalupihan, and Morong; while the second district, Samal, Abucay, Balanga, Pilar, and Bagac.
Bagac is the province’s biggest town in terms of land area of 231.20 square kilometer. Ancheta, however said that “we have the biggest land area but most of our lands are national parks.”
“Perhaps it would be fine if Bagac lands would be declared alienable and disposable. Thus we can have our own industrial estate which will become income-generating venture,” said the former columnist of local papers.
Bagac with a population of more less 29,000 make do with P115 million internal revenue allotment (IRA).
