THE Authority of the Freeport Area of Bataan (AFAB) had been doing fairly well in its role in mitigating the spread of coronavirus within the freeport zone and among its employees and factory workers.
This was revealed by AFAB Administrator Emmanuel D. Pineda during the recent visit of Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque at the Freeport Area of Bataan and the municipality of Mariveles.
Pineda said the Authority has put up a three-story isolation facility within the FAB to accommodate Covid-19 affected workers. “So far we already had accommodated more than 100 workers in our facility complete with basic provisions,” said Pineda.
FAB factory workers remained at a little less than 40,000 during the pandemic period. Operating companies are at 83. Workers who had to go on forced leave: 23,307.
But before the pandemic period, FAB had 97 operating companies with 46,000 workers.
Pineda expressed optimism that locators can weather the present crisis. The FAB had been requiring the companies to follow health protocols including going through the triage. “Walang exempted, kasi sa Covid-19 wala namang exempted,” he added.
