During its recent session held at The Bunker building, members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan ng Bataan passed a resolution authorizing Governor Albert S. Garcia to enter into a joint venture agreement with Eurekare Corporation for the design, development, operation, and maintenance of the Bataan Healthcare Smartcard (BHS) system in the province. This was disclosed by Board Member Jomar Gaza, chair of the Committee on Human Rights, Justice and Legal Matters who recommended the passage of said resolution subject to existing relevant laws, rules and regulations in the province. Such move is congruent to the Province’s vision of achieving the highest human development index (HDI) in the Philippines,
The Provincial Government of Bataan (PGB) through the Public Private Partnership and Investment Center (PPPIC) headed by Atty. Joey Angeles started exploratory talks with Eurekare Corporation for the proposed Bataan Healthcare Smartcard (BHS) way back in February 2018. Said project will streamline and simplify health care services and assistance to the people.
Eurekare Corporation Head Mr. Steve Lin said the system is already being used by different countries worldwide.
With a minimal one time membership fee of 150 pesos and an annual fee of 40 pesos, both the PPPIC and the Sangguniang Panlalawigan are hopeful that the BHS project will be integrated in the implementation of Universal Health Care Law, Bataan being one of its pilot sites.
