Did you know that Bataan started lording it over in the TESDA Regional competitions as early as 2009?
CITY of BALANGA, Bataan – For the 3rd time, the province of Bataan emerged as the Over-all Champion in the recently concluded TESDA Regional Skills Competition held in Tarlac last September 14-16. Provincial and Regional skills competitions are held every other year.
Actually, this is the third time that our province became the over-all champion in the regional skills competition. Bataan first became over-all champion in 2009, then first runner-up in 2011 (the competition was delayed due to unforeseen events and was held in January 2012 instead), then over-all champion again in 2013.
This year 2015, Bataan garnered a total of 7 gold medals, 3 silver medals and 1 bronze medal. The commitment of the technical vocational institutions to upgrade their trainors and facilities according to international standards is a major factor in the back-to-back wins of the province.
The test packages used in the regional skills competition were the test packages utilized in the 10th ASEAN Skills Competition held in Hanoi, Vietnam in 2014, where three (3) Philippine competitors came from Bataan; Mr. Keith Beja and Expert Junjon Santuyo of PTC Orion (Electronics), Mr. Gino Eulatic and Expert Henry Ocampo of RTC Mariveles (Electrical Technology) and Mr. Percian Borja of Eastwoods Professional College of Science and Technology (Web Design). The gold medalist will represent Central Luzon in the Philippine National Skills Competition tentatively scheduled November of this year in Davao City.
Likewise, Bataan is also over- all Champion in the Socio- Cultural Competition besting other provinces in the solo-singing category by Ms. Nikki Joy Enriquez of PWU- Bataan, while Mr. John Jovy Bergenholtz of BPSU and Miss Mary Louise Perdon also of PWU Bataan were crowned Mr. and Miss TVI Central Luzon respectively. Bataan also brought home the bronze medal for the Group Modern Dance and Battle of the Bands competitions both represented by the Eastwoods Professional College of Science and Technology.
