In response to the call of the Department of Health and the local city government headed by Mayor Francis Anthony Garcia, all schools in the Division of City of Balanga show their full support to the #Brownrice4good challenge which aims to promote good health by eating brown rice as substitute for commercial rice.
Teachers and employees in all schools in the division took pictures of themselves eating brown rice and posted them in different social media such as Facebook, Twitter and Instagram with the hashtag #Brownrice4good.
According to Calorie Secrets site, our body gets a lot of benefits from eating brown rice. One is the possible reduced risk of colon cancer which is a common disease nowadays. It can also help prevent heart disease and formation of gallstone. In addition, it is also said to help lower bad cholesterol in the body, promote healthy bowel function, control blood sugar level, and maintain healthy bones and nervous system. Lastly, it is also said to help protect women against breast cancer.
Knowing all these good things we could get from eating brown rice, it is but beneficial to promote it because health is truly something we should care about. Let us continue supporting our local and national government’s programs and projects such as this so we could all live a happy and healthy life.
