CITY of BALANGA, Bataan – Mr. Junjon Santuyo, a Senior TESD Specialist and Electronics Trainer of the Regional Training Center-Mariveles was named first runner-up in the national selection of TESDA’s prestigious 2015 Tagsanay Awards.
The Tagsanay Awards is TESDA’s way of recognizing outstanding and exemplary performance of TVET trainers from both public and private TVET providers. The search was launched nationwide last November 20, 2015 where all provinces were given the opportunity to nominate at least two candidates for selection at the regional level.
The search culminated with a week-long selection process where all the thirty-six (36) nominees all over the country competed in various activities such as written test, group work, experience sharing and activity-based assessment. The top eight finally faced a panel interview by representatives from the TESDA Board, Philippine Chamber of Commerce, Inc., Metrobank, Civil Service Commission and the Department of Labor and Employment. Likewise, all contenders underwent technical and cultural field trips and training on social graces.
Among the remarkable achievements of Mr. Santuyo are his two consecutive participation in the ASEAN Skills Competition, first in Jakarta, Indonesia in 2012 and latest was in Hanoi, Vietnam in 2014 as Competition Expert to two of his trainees. He and his competitor from Vietnam brought home a Medallion of Excellence in Electronics. Mr. Santuyo is also the author of several innovations like the Exposure Box for PCB Design which resulted to time efficiency, improvement of design stability and quality of printed circuit board for prototyping. Mr. Santuyo also serves as a Lead Trainer for the Training of Trainers for several years now.
