For the fourth consecutive year, the Provincial Government of Bataan (PGB) under the leadership of Governor Abet Garcia once again won the coveted Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) from the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG).

In a virtual awarding ceremony on Monday, DILG Bataan Provincial Director Myra Moral-Soriano recognized PGB including the municipal governments of Bagac, Dinalupihan, Hermosa, Orani, Samal, Pilar, and the city government of Balanga for being the awardees of the 2019 SGLG.

Bataan was evaluated last April 23, 2019 by the SGLG Regional Assessment Team wherein provincial department heads attended the assessment session through interviews and document review.
SGLG applies the all-in assessment system where the LGU needs to pass the following seven governance areas: Financial Administration; Disaster Preparedness; Social Protection; Peace and Order; Business-Friendliness and Competitiveness; Environmental Protection; and Tourism, Culture and the Arts.

In 2017 and 2018, DILG cited Bataan with the highest percentage of SGLG awardees in Region III based on the number of awardees out of the number of LGUs in the province.
Formerly known as Seal of Good Housekeeping, SGLG is a national recognition and a flagship program of the DILG that awards and incentivizes performing LGUs advancing in the said areas of governance.
