Dinalupihan Mayor Maria Angela S.Garcia has expressed her confidence on the competency of the residents of improving the quality of agricultural productivity and the healthy lifestyle of the town which is considered as the gateway to profitable Freeport and ecozones in Western Central Luzon .
Ms. Garcia, president of Bataan Mayors’ League has greatly emphasized her objective of transforming the fast growing farming municipality into a modern ‘agropolis’ by 2022 which is determined in focusing on agriculture, food sufficiency, biodiversity and environmental protection.
Highlighting the province’s Public-Private Partnership with an Israeli company, Agrilever Hongkong Limited, in building an Agricultural Innovation and Technology Center (AITC) in Dinalupihan, Mayor Garcia said both parties involved are hopeful that progress can be seen in the next few months for this will benefit the farmers and consumers.
The lady town executive said, a Hydroponics and Green House Project will also be built in the province that will produce vegetables such as lettuce, carrots, basil and potato, etc.
The utilization of hydroponics to produce high-quality vegetables will be operational under the PPP Memorandum of Agreement this year and they will start in a one-hectare hydroponics system and four-hectare green farm with the use of drift irrigation.
“Optimistically , we can produce 2.5 million lettuce heads so we can also contribute to the food sufficiency program of Bataan and Central Luzon,” the lady mayor added.
