BALANGA CITY, Bataan – In line with the National Women’s Month Celebration, the Bataan Police Provincial Office initiated an activity which kicked-off with a motorcade from Camp Tolentino to Balanga City Plaza to Enrique Garcia Sr. Avenue and to Roman Highway, yesterday.
This year’s celebration aims to pay tribute to all women leaders who passionately led and continue to advocate women’s advocacies with the theme: “Kapakananan ni Juana, Isama sa Agenda!”
The theme resonates the call for gender-balance in leadership and decision making positions both in public and private sector; inclusion of women’s concerns in leadership platforms and the government’s development agenda; and capacitating and preparing women and girls to reach their ambitions.
Meanwhile, Atty. Marilet S. Layug, President of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines-Bataan Chapter, served as guest speaker in the said event.
Also part of the program was the awarding of certificates to outstanding women in their own chosen fields such as: Female PCO of the Year-PINSP Jennifer A. Cruz; Senior Female PNCO of the Year-SPO4 Editha B. Solomon; Junior Female PNCO of the Year-PO1 Marilyn G. Buquel; WCPD PNCO of the Year-PO3 Erlynn M. Fonseca; Special Award-PCINSP Ailleen Perez; and Special Award NGO-Dra. Rosario Acuña, president of KABALIKAT.
The objectives of this year’s celebration are as follows: (1) Create avenue for women and women advocates to celebrate the gains of the current administration with regards to closing gender gap, as well as to call on the next administration to continue supporting the advocacy and prioritize women’s issues in various agenda; (2) Present the achievements of the Aquino Administration in promoting gender equality and women’s empowerment, through the Report on the State of Filipino Women; (3) Gather public perception on what women’s issues should be prioritized by the next administration through crowd sourcing of “Agenda ni Juana”; and (4) Strengthen public advocacy on National Women’s Month with emphasis on women’s issues that still need to be addressed.
