Hermosa Mayor Jopet Inton yesterday revealed that the Provincial Government of Bataan led by Governor Abet Garcia and in cooperation with Bataan Mayors, has chosen the most expensive vaccine for the Province’s vaccination program to fight the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (Covid-19).

“Kausap ko po si Governor Abet, ang pinili po niya na vaccine para po sa atin ay yun pong Moderna, yun po ang pinakamahal,” Mayor Inton said during his speech at the blessing and formal opening rites of a covered court project in Barangay Sacrifice Valley.

According to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Moderna COVID-19 Vaccine, codenamed mRNA-1273, is a COVID-19 vaccine developed by the United States National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, the Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority, and ModernaTX, Inc.

According to data from Senator Sonny Angara’s Office, Moderna costs P3,904 to P4,504 for two doses per person.
“Simula pa po noong unang linggo ng Disyembre ay masusi nang nakikipag-ugnayan ang inyong lingkod sa mga kinauukulan upang masiguro ang pagkakaroon ng sapat na supply ng anti-COVID vaccine sa ating lalawigan,” Governor Garcia said last January 21 thru his Facebook Page post.

Governor Garcia added that he had already done series of meetings with Senior Vice President for Commercial Vaccines Mr. Patrick Bergsted of Moderna Therapeutics Zuellig Pharma Corporation representative, Janneth Jakosalem.
“Patuloy din po ang ating pakikipag-ugnayan kay Vaccine Czar Sec. Carlito Galvez Jr., sa Department of the Interior and Local Government, Department of Health, at iba pang mga opisyal ng pamahalaan upang maisakatuparan ang pagbabakuna sa ating lalawigan sa lalong madaling panahon,” Garcia added.

The priority list for the implementation of the anti-Covid-19 vaccine program includes the frontline health workers, senior citizens and indigent residents of the province.
The funds for this major health program are being prepared by the provincial government in cooperation with the local governments of the 11 towns and lone city of Bataan and the private sector.

“Ang bakuna kontra COVID-19 ang magbibigay ng kasiguruhang matagal na nating hinihintay upang ganap na mapuksa ang pandemyang nagpapahirap sa buhay at kabuhayan ng ating mga kababayan. Makaaasa po ang lahat na ginagawa ng ating Panlalawigang Pamahalaan ang lahat ng ating makakaya upang masigurong maabot ng bakuna ang bawat Bataeño,” Governor Garcia further said.
