Board Member Benjie Serrano said the province in partnership with the Department of Agriculture (DA) will start a swine-raising project to benefit local pig raisers.
“We have conducted series of meetings with Provincial Veterinarian Dr. Alberto Venturina and other concerned officers, and the project will now push through”, he said.
Serrano is the Chairman of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan Committee on Agriculture.
“The Sangguniang Panlalawigan headed by our Presiding Officer Vice Gov. Cris Garcia already adopted a resolution authorizing Gov. Albert Garcia to enter into an agreement with the Department of Agriculture for the project”, he also said.
“We ensure that the project will push through since we want to help our constituents in sync with the thrust Gov. Garcia”, Serrano said.
Venturina said the “Bataan Swine Multiplier and Technodemo Farm Project” is a joint undertaking among DA, Agricultural Training Institute-International Training Center on Pig Husbandry, and the provincial government of Bataan. He said a one-building swine demo farm will constructed in the province. He also said top-breed swine will be distributed to qualified beneficiaries in the province.
Beneficiaries will be required one-time return of swine offspring as their obligation to the project. The project has P10 million funding.
