BALANGA CITY, Bataan – Bataan thru Central Luzon Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development Consortium (CLAARRDEC) is set to hold Goat FIESTA or Farmers Encounters through the Science and Technology Agenda.
The event to will be highlighted by goat show, exhibits, technology pitching, and cooking contest, among others, scheduled on November 21 and 22 at capitol compound.
“Goat production is a sunshine industry. The industry in Bataan is very promising and CLAARRDEC recognizes the potential of the province”, said BPSU RDO Director Hermogenes Paguia.
“BPSU as member of CLAARRDEC and premier state university in the province will be partner of the provincial government to improve the goat industry through science and technology researches”, he also said.
“Hopefully with the staging of Goat FIESTA, we want to entice more local folks into scientific goat farming”, he said.
For his part, Provincial Veterinarian Alberto Venturina said, “We have already established in the dairy goat breeding centers in Dinalupihan and Balanga. Gov. Garcia sees the good prospect of goat farming, aside from livelihood to local folks, more importantly for attaining sustainable food production”.
Initiated by DOST PCAARRD, FIESTA serves as a strategy to facilitate not only the flow of agricultural and aquatic food products from the farm to the market, but also to enhance the flow of technology generated from government laboratories to the farmers as primary beneficiaries of research and development initiatives.
The provincial government of Bataan and BPSU are both members of CLAARRDEC.
