CITY of BALANGA, BATAAN – The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) III recently awarded the Youth Excellence in Science (YES) to three elementary students and one high school student from Bataan during the recognition or moving up ceremony in their respective schools.
YES Awardees include Io Aristotle Nikolai Calica, Grade 2 student from Balanga Elementary School in City of Balanga, Bataan; Keith Railey Reyes, Grade 6 student from Dinalupihan Elementary School in Dinalupihan, Bataan; Ronniel Vincent Roberto, Grade 6 student from The Peninsula School in Limay, Bataan; and Janna Patricia Tungol, an alumna of San Ramon Elementary School in Dinalupihan, Bataan who is currently enrolled as Grade 7 student in Philippine Science High School Central Luzon Campus in Clark Freeport Zone, Pampanga.
Calica, Reyes, and Roberto are winners in 2016 International Mathematics Wizard Challenge which was held in Thailand on July 20-23, 2016.
Calica and Roberto both won silver medal in their respective contest category while Reyes brought home a bronze medal.
Meanwhile, Tungol gained a bronze medal in 2016 International Mathematics Competition held in Singapore on July 28 to August 1, 2016.
According to the Provincial Science and Technology Director of DOST in Bataan, YES is an institutional award of DOST through Science Education Institute (SEI) being given to young students who showed exemplary achievement in the field of science and mathematics.
