Bataeño artists display talent in sketching competition

Bataeño visual artists exhibited their passion and talent during the “Lakbay Sining: Mga Tanawin sa Bataan” sketching competition organized by the Provincial Tourism Office held February 23 at the Bataan Tourism Center.

Provincial Tourism Officer Danica Lolita T. Rodriguez said the competition is part of the province’s celebration of National Arts Month, aimed at highlighting Bataan’s tourism destinations through the creativity of local artists. Board Member and Tourism Committee Chairperson Mylene Serrano expressed full support for the activity and its participants, emphasizing the value of the arts in strengthening local identity and promoting culture.

The competition brought together participants across municipalities in Bataan whose entries captured the province’s landscapes and destinations through live sketching and creative interpretation. A panel of professionals from the fields of art and design served as judges, composed of visual artist and art advocate Jaime Medina, designer and sculptor Jude Rodriguez, and architect Yves Jan Atienza.

Artworks from the sketching competition are on display at the Bataan Tourism Center for public viewing until March 2, 2026. Winners will receive cash prizes, with ₱10,000 for first place, ₱7,000 for second place, and ₱5,000 for third place, along with consolation prizes for other participants.

The awarding ceremony will be held on February 27, 2026 during BTN Pop Fest, the province’s Music Video Competition Awards Night, at the Bataan People’s Center, which is expected to gather local music and arts enthusiasts from across the province.
