Bataan Peninsula State University ranked 6th most sustainable university in the Philippines. Based on the article shared by BPSU Vice President for Research, Extension, Training Services Dr. Hermogenes Paguia, the result is from 2022 UI Greenmetric World University Rankings.
It also ranked BPSU as the 567th most sustainable university in the world. BPSU performed better this year compared to last year’s 2021 UI Greenmetric World University Rankings where the university placed 8th locally and 737th internationally. The remarkable improvement indicates an increase in environmentally sustainable programs and initiatives implemented by the BPSU Office of Environmental Sustainability, report said.
Paguia congratulated their current university leadership headed by BPSU President Dr. Greg Rodis for the feat. The UI GreenMetric World University Ranking is a ranking on green campus and environmental sustainability initiated by Universitas Indonesia in 2010.
Through 39 indicators in 6 criteria, UI GreenMetric World University Rankings prudently determined the rankings by universities’ environmental commitment and initiatives. Paguia said BPSU hosted one-day 2022 Climate Change in August here gathering campus planning officers, sustainability officers, and other stakeholders to heighten awareness and efforts in dealing with the environmental crisis.
