“Our team won the gold for men’s team and women’s team and all the eight individual gold in the recent UCAAB”, said BPSU men’s team trainer Noel Ycasas.

He said the gold medalists men are Micko Eufemio (Board 1), Joselle Moreno (Board 2), Hans Christian Ferrera (Board 3), and Jeffrey Lintag (Board 4); and gold medalists women are Josephine Mae Hizon (Board 1), Jessica Villanueva (Board 2), Jinelle Lagos (Board 3), and Jhuddy Ann Santos (4).

Erickson Marimla, trainer for BPSU women’s team and Ycasas have turned the BPSU men’s and women’s chess teams into powerhouse.

The BPSU chess teams are consistently winning the State Colleges and Universities Athletic Association and UCAAB for the past years.

Marimla is an active tournaments player gunning for his first national master norm. He recently won a tournament in Baguio where he reportedly beat a master.
