BALANGA CITY, Bataan – The Bataan Peninsula State University (BPSU) thru its Extension Services Office taught residents of Gawad Kalinga Village in Orion town to assemble antenna.
A team from the University’s College of Engineering and Architecture conducted series of trainings to teach 30 Gawad Kalinga residents in Barangay Daan Pare in Orion to make Yagi-Uda antenna.
According to Engr. Christopher Maglanque, project leader, the project turned out successful since the residents truly learned the skill. “We checked the reception of the antennas they made, and found them to be even better than the commercial ones”, he said.
Engr. Kristine Ortega, project coordinator, said that Orion Mayor Tonypep Raymundo, upon seeing the project, gave P50 thousand to be used as capital for the production of the antenna of the Gawad Kalinga Community. She said the antennas would be sold to other Gawad Communities in the country and even worldwide.
Aside from the antenna production, BPSU has also street lighting and water system projects in Gawad Kalinga Orion.
