CEmBa MPC–1st coop to avail POS system

CITY of BALANGA, Bataan – The Capitol Employees of Bataan Multi-Purpose Cooperative (CEmBa MPC) is the first cooperative from among the members of Bataan Credit Surety Fund to avail a Point-of-Sale (POS) system from the Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP).

“Bale ito yung facility na hindi na kami kailangan mag-withdraw from ATM. I-de-debit na lang ng DBP sa account namin para pumasok as loan amortization ng mga members,” explained Ms. May Hizon, CEmBa Manager.

“Sa paraan na ito, mas nagiging safe kasi wala nang involved na hahawakang cash, auto-debit na lang ang magiging transactions,” Manager Hizon added.

According to Ms. Hizon, CEmBa signed the merchant agreement last May 6, 2016, whereas the DBP, through its POS system, undertakes to make available to participating cardholders, the opportunity to purchase or pay for merchandise from the CEmBa.

In the agreement, it was also stated that CEmBa agrees to maintain a deposit account with DBP which will be used for crediting of the aggregate amount of payments, not later than three banking days from the date of payment.

Founded on May 19, 2006, CEmBa MPC was registered under the Cooperative Development Authority (CDA) with an initial 53 cooperators and a humble initial capital of P262, 000 from the members who believe in the spirit of cooperativism. It was then re-registered with the CDA on Oct. 14, 2009.

CEmBa engaged in various business undertakings. From an initial Lobby Snack Bar, a bottled-water business in Bataan Transport Mall, medical supplies to PHO Store, all were put up one after the other, and profits promisingly accumulated after just a few months.

Today, CEmBa operates a canteen, photocopying and e-Load business. Credit services through Salary Loan Program and Rice Loan are also availed by the cooperative to its members.

CEmBa MPC envisions itself to become the leading employees’ cooperative in the province. Its mission is to provide high quality products and services for the uplifting of its member’s socio economic condition fostering productivity, stability, growth, and efficiency in rendering public service.
