Cong Tet’s vision takes a concrete shape

CITY of BALANGA, Bataan – A self-made man himself, 2nd District Representative, Enrique “Tet” Garcia Jr.’s vision for the province of Bataan is at least “one professional in every family”.

To realize this vision, he painstakingly initiated the Iskolar ng Bataan Program in 2004. His hard work paid off, for in School Year 2005-2006, around 6,000 deserving students became the first batch of beneficiaries of the Iskolar ng Bataan program.

Now on its 11th year of implementation, the number of program beneficiaries swelled to 15 thousand and has even extended its services to teachers who want to pursue graduate studies.

Congressman Garcia’s vision is shared and fully supported by Governor Abet Garcia and siblings Mayor Joet of Balanga City and Mayor Gila of Dinalupihan as well as the other mayors of the province.

The local government executives see the program as a vital aspect in the realization of the province’s vision that by the year 2020, Bataan will be the preferred location for eco-industrial investments leading to the highest human development index in the Philippines.

In keeping with their commitment to their father’s vision, last August 29 and 30, Governor Abet Garcia, together with Mayor Joet and Mayor Gila joined the 9,000 (5,000 – Aug. 29 and 4,000 – Aug. 30) new Iskolar ng Bataan beneficiaries at the People’s Center, this City in their 11th General Assembly. Credit advice were likewise issued to the new beneficiaries who attended said assembly together with one parent/guardian each.
