DENR Bataan conducts mangrove planting

The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Bataan conducted mangrove planting n Brgy. Pulo, Orani, on Monday.

“We have planted 350 potted mangrove propagules”, said PENRO Raul Mamac.

“We planted the portion of the 12 hectares silt containment area in Barangay Pulo”, he said.

Spearheaded by Mamac, Penro personnel, Cenro Dinalupihan personnel, and Cenro Dinalupihan estero rangers participated in the planting activity.
The barangay captain and a kagawad of Barangay Almacen, Hermosa also joined.

Mangroves are natural defense reducing the force of incoming waves and retaining sediments. The trees also serve as habitat for fishes, crabs, and other species.
