DENR Bataan sponsors Manila Bay poster making contest

PILAR, Bataan – The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Bataan in observance of Manila Bay Day sponsored a poster making contest among high school students in the province.

Provincial Environment Natural Resources Officer Raul Mamac said students with their respective advisers from 15 high schools participated in the contest held recently at Crown Royal Hotel in Balanga City. Cash prizes were given to the winners with the champion receiving P10,000.00.

“We sponsored the poster making contest to further raise public awareness on the critical importance of rehabilitating the Manila Bay”, he explained. “The artistic talents of the students can be used to promote rehabilitating the bay”, he added.

Village officials of the four towns in the province of Bataan already attended a forum on Manila Bay rehabilitation program conducted by DENR Bataan. “The DENR Bataan is the chair of the Technical Working Group of the Manila Bay Rehabilitation Project Bataan. We have been accelerating the conduct of IEC for the rehabilitation and clean-up of Manila Bay with the other mandamus agencies”, earlier pointed out Mila Ramirez, DENR Bataan Section Chief and Manila Bay rehabilitation program focal person.

The stretch of the coasts of Hermosa, Orani, Samal, Abucay, Balanga, Pilar, Orion, Limay, and Mariveles is part of Manila Bay. The DENR Bataan through the leadership of Mamac is in full swing implementing its programs that include National Greening Program, Handog Titulo, and Manila Bay Rehabilitation Project, among others.
