Dinalupihan Mayor Gila Garcia thanked the Lord for giving the chance and a fine weather to celebrate the much-awaited water festival or “wattah wattah” after a two-year hibernation due to COVID-19 pandemic.
The water festival is celebrated every 24th of June in honor of St. John The Baptist, the patron saint of the only land-locked town in Bataan. The same festival is also being held in San Juan City.
“Let us give thanks to the Lord God for this chance to celebrate after two years now that we are already under Alert Level 1 status,” said the lady mayor.
About a thousand or more people took to the streets to join the celebration by having them drenched with fresh water from fire trucks parked in the town plaza. Mayor-elect Herman “Tong” Santos joined the parade.
Garcia, now about to end her three-term as mayor of Dinalupihan, won as congresswoman of the province’s newly-minted Third District in the just concluded national and local elections.
