“You have leaders supported and trusted by the people and you are truly 1Bataan,” Department of Health (DOH) Field Implementation and Coordination Team (FICT) Undersecretary Gerardo Bayugo, said as he highlighted the importance of cooperation among Bataeños in the fight against COVID-19 during the third awarding of the 1Bataan Seal of COVID-free barangay via Zoom yesterday, November 5.
He also said that the national agencies are reassured to know that they are not alone and they are seeing Bataan as well as other local government units (LGUs) doing their best through different efforts to minimize the effects and contain the virus.
A total of 100 barangays from the Municipalities of Dinalupihan, Limay, Mariveles, Morong, Orani and Orion received 25,000 pesos each and a certificate of recognition for either being able to reduce by 20% the COVID cases in their communities, compared to the last 15 days or maintain zero COVID case in their barangays after thorough validation of the Provincial Health Office.
“DOH commends Bataan’s efforts in preparing communities to respond properly. You are leading the way,” Usec. Bayugo added.
Governor Albert Garcia, after the announcement of winners, thanked the barangay front liners for showing their constituents the true meaning of public service even after the exhausting eight (8) months of fighting.
Also in attendance in the said awarding ceremonies were Vice Governor Cris Garcia, 2nd District Representative Congressman Joet Garcia, Mayor Gila Garcia of Dinalupihan, Mayor Jocelyn Castañeda of Mariveles, Mayor Bonjong Pascual of Orani, Mayor Antonio Raymundo of Orion, Mayor Cythia Estanislao of Morong, Limay Municipal Administrator Danilo Datay, SP Committee on Health Chairman Board Member Godofredo Galicia, members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan ng Bataan, members of the Provincial Task Force on COVID-19, representatives of Zuellig Family Foundation, Municipal Health Officers and concerned Punong Barangays.
The 1Bataan Seal of COVID-free Barangay, formerly called 1Bataan Seal of Healthy Barangay prior to the pandemic, is a program of the Provincial Government of Bataan aimed at recognizing the efforts of Barangay Health Emergency Response Teams (BHERTs) and barangay front liners in combating COVID-19 in their respective areas of jurisdiction.
