THE Department of Transportation is now subsidizing the modernized transport system to encourage the transport sector to join the national government program in improving and modernizing the country’s public transportation vehicles like jeepneys and mini-buses.
Nick Santiago Ancheta, Municipal Administrator of Bagac, said one way of luring the local transport sector to join the program is by way of offering free transportation for the residents of Bagac and those individuals going to Bagac for important transaction.
Ancheta said 10 units of modernized transport vehicles are ferrying passengers from Balanga City to Bagac town free of charge. “The DOTr subsidizes our modernized transport system and this has been going on since last April and will last until June 30, this year,” he said.
“But in Bagac, we continue to enforce basic health protocols like wearing of mask, face shield, social distancing, and use of hand sanitizer,” he said. Bataan folks who wish to visit Bagac for a very important purpose should show their IDs, while non-Bataan residents should show medical certificate or negative swab test result.
Bagac had been widely touted as one of the tourism hubs in Central Luzon what with clean beach resorts and the prevailing peace and order situation in Bataan. “We have to transform Bagac into a top tourist destination in the region, so we have to develop a good transport system comparable to other progressive towns,” said Ancheta.
