Elected Bataan LGUs take oath

By Aida R. Rubiano

CITY of BALANGA, Bataan – All roads led to Emiliana Hall, in this City, as elected local government officials of the province of Bataan took their oath of office.

Prior to the oath-taking ceremonies, a thanksgiving mass was officiated by Rev. Fr. Jesus Navoa.

Governor Abet took his oath before Judge Angelito Balderama and two barangay captains; Ramir Fernando of Brgy. Payangan, Dinalupihan and Doroteo Austria of Brgy. Bagong Silang, Balanga City.

In her opening remarks, Ms. Myra Moral-Soriano, Provincial Director, DILG-Bataan underscored the need to make government programs and services relevant in today’s digital era.

Second District Representative Joet Garcia, vowed to live up to the achievements of his predecessors, the late Congressman Tet Garcia and incumbent Governor Abet Garcia, to name a few. He also appealed to his fellow officials to put to good use the prevailing unity in the province.

In his message after the oath-taking, Governor Abet described the prevailing scenario by quoting Thomas Freidman, an American writer when he said, “this is the worst time to be a leader” due to a number of reasons, namely: people nowadays are demanding, discerning, aware and conscious; media has never been this free; the emergence of social media which is bolder than the traditional media; climate change and the strict observance of COA rules.

With these, the second termer governor laid down the following solutions: “as we work harder, let us be more creative and innovative; whether individually or collectively; let us cooperate and support each other. If we work as a team, we can do more. Mas maraming buhay na mababago. Pagkalipas ng tatlong taon, at sinukat tayo ng ating mga kababayan, muli pipiliin nila ang 1Bataan!”
