A former mayor of Morong, Bataan said the government should not let its guard down because we are not yet totally safe from the invisible Covid-19. Jorge Estanislao, husband of incumbent Morong Mayor Cynthia L. Estanislao, said in an interview that the national government’s set back lies in the fact that there had been poor contact tracing system where close contact exposure of asymptomatic carriers don’t get tested. The Estanislaos are both medical practitioners. Jorge says it is alright to ease restrictions “kung ang mga tao ay talagang susunod sa mga protocol, sa mga gatherings at pagkain-kain na expose ang mga tao. (If the people are serious enough to observe health protocols in gatherings, eating sessions where they are exposed.) On the issue of senior citizens, he said those who already completed two-dose vaccine should bring their certificates. “In other countries, say in Taiwan, 200 residents were tested positive and they locked down the borders. Tayo, thousands, nag open na. Paano kung mag-exponential growth na naman, sarado na naman di ba,” Estanislao explains.
