BALANGA City, Bataan – Mr. Kevin Omes and Ms. Jaica Lopez of Emilio C. Bernabe National High School (ECBNHS) of Bagac bagged the Ginoo at Binibining Kalikasan 2016 title, held on Wednesday, February 24 at the Bataan People’s Center, this City.
“Masaya ako sa naging result. Syempre nakaka-proud sa school dahil pareho kaming nanalo. At nagpapasalamat ako sa lahat ng sumuporta samin mula simula hanggang dulo,” said Ms. Lopez when asked regarding her feelings for her latest achievement.
According to Mr. Jerry Diwa, Education Program Supervisor in Science, the event is executed to further promote environmental awareness among the students and also to address environmental concerns and issues.
“This is a project of DepEd-Bataan, organized by the Youth for Environment in School Organization (YES-O) in every school consisting of Science Departments Heads,” shared Mr. Diwa.
Showcasing the creativity and artistry of Bataeños, contestants coming from the 25 participating schools, both public and private, ramped their Kalikasan attires.
“This is our simple way of protecting the environment and promoting the recycling of waste materials,” added Mr. Diwa.
Other winners in the said event are as follows: 4th runner up-Mr. Carlos Natanavan of JC Payumo Memorial High School and Ms. Camille Paguio of Pablo Roman National High School; 3rd runner up-Mr. Jethro Escaler of Bataan Christian School and Ms. Aira de Gomez of Colegio de San Juan de Letran; 2nd runner up-Mr. Jan Iverson Diwa of Pablo Roman NHS and Ms. Katherine Danielle Arbiso of JCP Memorial HS; and lastly, the 1st runner up are Mr. Richmond John Espino and Marifer Rose Guevarra, both from Luakan NHS-Annex.
The first and second placers will directly compete at the national level to be held in Baguio City sometime in April.
Eastwoods Academy of Science and Technology provided technical help in tabulating the results in the event.
