BALANGA CITY, Bataan – City Mayor Francis Garcia is seriously considering to establish a light industrial zone in Balanga.
The first-time mayor made public his plan during his first State of the City Address (SOCA) on Friday, December 30 at the Plaza Mayor de Balanga attended by a crowd of city officials, barangay officials, and constituents.
“If we have a light industrial zone here in Balanga, our constituents do not need to go to Mariveles anymore”, the mayor explained.
The Freeport Area of Bataan where manufacturers abound, is located in Mariveles.
Garcia also revealed the plan to establish training centers in the city. The city mayor vowed to continue the award-winning government programs of his predecessor and older brother now Bataan 2nd district Congressman Joet Garcia like the Tobacco-Free Generation, healthy lifestyles, city literacy program, learning barangay week program, and world-class university town, among others.
Balanga also celebrated its 16th year of cityhood last Friday.
