The Bataan Peninsula State University’s (BPSU) Hope Behind Bars and Smart Mango Team are Civil Service Commission (CSC) Region 3 Honors Awards Program (HAP) awardees.
Out of 31 HAP nominations received by CSC Region 3, 18 were chosen for this year’s regional winners.
Hope Behind Bars is an in-prison skills development program through the University’s extension office that offers various technical-vocational courses to inmates.
Dr. Bernadeth Gabor, BPSU Extension Office director, is project leader of Hope Behind Bars. With her at the program are Nomer Varua and two other university extension workers.
Smart Mango Team is composed of Vice President for Research, Extension, Training Services Dr. Hermogenes Paguia (project leader), Dr. Rowena Valerio (study leader), Dr. Rina Paguia (study leader), Lorna Roldan (member), and Cherilyn Ventura (member).
The program is a BPSU-led science and technology-based research project on mango farming aiming to boost production.
The awards to be given out are the highest and most coveted recognition given by the government to individuals or group of individuals who have excelled or shown utmost dedication and commitment to public service.
The three award categories under the Search are the Presidential Lingkod Bayan, Outstanding Public Officials and Employees or the Dangal ng Bayan, and the CSC Pagasa Award.
