LIMAY, Bataan – As School Year 2016-2017 started last Monday, the e-learning system and modernization program has started to be implemented in selected public schools here. This was confirmed by Cita Ordiales, district supervisor here of the Department of Education.
“Napakasaya po namin in behalf of the DepEd family ng Limay kasi po alam namin na sa buong Pilipinas, kami pa lang po ang nagstart nito (public schools). Very thankful po kami sa aming mayor, visionary leader po siya,” Ordiales told 1Bataan.com.
Lamao National High School principal Cesar Valenzuela said the students today tagged as 21st century children deserve to have a modern system of education because most of them are already computer literate.
Ordiales added that the distribution of computer tablets and other computer system and gadgets are still on-going to selected schools. “As a teacher po napaka beneficial ng e-learning project na ito. As a teacher, less talk less preparation. Napakadali na po ng pagututuro namin. Hindi na kailangan magprepare ng traditional instructional materials,” Cheryl Cruz, a teacher from Lamao National High School told this reporter.
During last summer vacation the program’s system Genyo, tagged as the first and only fully integrated online learning management system for basic education in the Philippines was recently introduced to teachers.
Mayor Lilvir “Ver” Roque said this is part of their e-learning and school modernization program starting this coming school year 2016-2017.
Starting this June, students from various public schools here will no longer carry heavy bags on their way to their classrooms because the municipal government will purchase computer tablets for more than 5,000 public school students.
“This summer, our teachers here will be trained for this new module in learning, to be initially implemented in our three major schools here this coming school year 2016-2017,” Mayor Roque told 1Bataan.com.
The Genyo system which is said to be first to be used here in North Luzon (public schools) provides students and teachers with an exclusive online subscription 24/7 to a wide array of multimedia, curriculum-based teaching and learning resources.
Genyo is a state-of-the-art online e-Learning Management Program that comes complete with rich interactive multimedia content on Science, Math, English, Araling Panlipunan, Filipino, and Chinese. It also features an online resource portal and an intensive teacher training program to ensure success and sustainability of your school’s e-learning program.
Meanwhile, Roque added that aside from computer tablets, most classrooms in Limay High School, Lamao High School and St. Francis High School will be installed with projectors with interconnected module and programs installed in every student’s tablet.
Initially, 1,449 Grade 5 students; 1,223 Grade 6 students; 748 Grade 10 students; and, 750 Grade 9 students of Limay National High School will be given computer tablets. On the other hand, 682 students of Lamao High School and 210 St. Francis High School Grade 9 students will also receive computer tablets from the municipal government.
“As compared po sa dati gumagamit pa po kami ng notebook, pens, textbooks ngayon po nandito na lahat pati mga tests and exams po namin. Hindi na kami magkandakuba sa pagdadala ng mga libro,” says Lanalynne Laylo a student from Lamao High School.
Meanwhile, Mayor Roque also said that all 12 villages or barangays of this town will be Wi-Fi ready when the PLDT’s fiber optic installation is finished.
