Mayor Joet presents city awards, honors received

BALANGA CITY, Bataan – Various honors recently received by the city government and its constituents were presented to the public Monday morning after the traditional Monday flag raising ceremony.

The presentation was led by incoming second district congressman, and outgoing mayor Jose Enrique Garcia III and younger brother, incoming city mayor Francis Garcia.

Regional Director Florida M. Dijan of the Department of Interior and Local Government Regional Office III honored Barangay Cupang’s Lupong Tagapamayapa.

City administrator Rodolfo “Rudy” De Mesa, also the Education and Excellence Department head, honored Ms. Gianna Kalilah Roman, a Bataan Peninsula State University (BPSU) graduate who ranked 2nd in the 2016 nursing licensure examination. Roman ranked 2nd with an average of 86.60%.

City Health Officer Dr. Mariano Antonio Banzon presented the 2016 Outstanding Healthy Lifestyle award given to Balanga City by the Department of Health last Thursday, June 23.

The said awarding ceremonies was held at the Manila Hotel and was spearheaded by the DOH local government units (LGUs) with outstanding health advocacies were honored in the said event.

The award aims to propagate various best practices among LGUs, especially in the field of healthy living. Outgoing President Benigno S. Aquino also attended the awards.

For the past years, Balanga City has been excelling in promoting healthy lifestyle. The Huwag Maging Smoker, Alcoholic, and Drug Addict (SAD), a comprehensive anti-vices drive, has received many accolades, some of which were given by international bodies.
