Mayor Efren Pascual Jr. plans to renovate the Orani public market to make it even more viable and make way for economic rebound in this pandemic period.
Pascual said there are a lot of improvements to undertake at the public market which has become the municipality’s bread and butter since bulk of the town’s steady income is derived from it. The public market’s annual collection amounts to about P5 million.
He said public market facilities are fast deteriorating. “Only about 30 percent of them are still intact,” Pascual said.
Orani has an annual income of more or less P400 million. “Habang nagbubukas ang ekonomiya, unti-unti tayong makakabangon. We only need a package of economic program to rebound,” said the mayor.
Pascual is eyeing a slice of loan or grant from the World Bank which will be provided to the Philippines for countryside development. The loan, however, requires 20 percent equity from the
local government units (LGUs).
The son of then Bataan Governor Efren Pascul, Sr. is toying with the idea of adopting the public-private partnership (PPP) scheme for the renovation of the public market. It was not immediately known how much the project will cost.
