THE municipal government of Mariveles on Monday awarded cash and plaques of appreciation to the most functional Barangay Council for The Protection of Children (BCPC) in simple ceremonies at the town hall’s conference room.
Barangay Baseco Country emerged as the over-all champion in the best functional BCPC and received P50,000 cash. Other awardees were: Barangay Mountain View, fourth runner-up which received P30,000; Barangay Townsite, third runner-up, P35,000; Barangay Cabcaben, second runner-up, P40,000; Barangay Sisiman, first runner-up, P45,000. Barangays Baseco Country and Batangas 2 were Hall of Famers. Barangay Batangas 2 had been receiving the same award for three consecutive years.
Other barangays which received P10,000 cash and certificates of appreciation each were Alas-asin, Ipag, Poblacion, Alion, San Isidro, Camaya, Maligaya, and Malaya.
Special awards went to Barangay Cabcaben for “Best In Documentation,” which received P5,000; Barangay San Carlos for “Well-Maintained Gulayan,” P5,000; Barangay Batangas 2 for “Well-Mantained Playground,” P5,000; Barangay San Isidro for “Best BCPC Office,” and Barangay Baseco for “Best in Child-led Activities,” P5,000.
Certificates of appreciations were awarded to Barangays Townsite, Balon Anito, Sisiman, and Poblacion.
Mariveles Mayor Jocelyn P. Castaneda thanked barangay officials for their untiring effort to support the program of BCPC which seeks to protect children who are vulnerable to secondary impact of Covid-19 including abuse.
