After 15 years of existence, the Capitol Employees of Bataan Multi-purpose Cooperative (CEMBA) will soon have its own multi-million peso building in Barangay San Jose, Balanga City.
Ms. May Hizon, general manager of Cemba, said the building will soon be realized through the efforts of the board of directors, officers, management and its members who all have been part of the coop’s meteoric progress.
Hizon said there are non-Capitol employees who joined the Cemba “family” during this pandemic period “but we first conducted some credit background investigation before we acted on their loan application.”
Most of the applicants are from the business and agriculture sectors who are adversely affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. The loan, usually worth P100,000 is payable in one-year period with 24 percent interest on enterpreneur loan and 12 percent for agri loan, both diminishing computation.
Cemba now enjoys an asset of more than P113 million. Hizon is hopeful that the coop will improve its standing this year despite the pandemic “so that we can have our own building,”
In a related development, the Balanga City Employees and Enterpreneurs Multi-purpose cooperative (Balcceemco) with an asset of P37.9 million has become a potent force that helps propel the progress of Balanga.
The 24-year old Balcceemco’s members are mostly the city hall employees of Balanga. It was founded when Bataan Gov. Abet Garcia was then the city mayor.
