PILAR, Bataan -Employees of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Bataan are engaging in sports for revitalization and camaraderie. “All work no play makes one dull”, said Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Officer Raul Mamac who turned out to be a basketball 3-point shooter.

Recently, the DENR Bataan basketball team emerged champion in a basketball league in Barangay Dona Francisca in Balanga City. Mamac said DENR employees were joined by bantay gubat members and extension officers in the basketball tournament.

The DENR Bataan also held a bowling tournament for its employees. In the team up between the Philippine Information Agency and DENR Bataan last month, which promoted awareness on climate change with a fun run, Mamac noted, “Sports-related activities particularly among the youth are effective in promoting awareness regarding the impact of climate change in our world”.

More than a thousand college students from the Bataan Peninsula State University (BPSU) mostly members of the student organization Balangay Bayani and environment advocates participated in the fun run.

DENR Bataan is in full swing in implementing its programs.
