“Actually, the target for the completion of the road widening will be until next year. But Congresswoman Minia Roman, 1st district, intervened and recommended to the DPWH if we can finish the project before the end of this year, and probably we can have it finished by that the end of this month in compliance with the directive of our congresswoman,” pointed out Engr. Mallari.

While the DPWH is rushing its 1st district, the DPWH in Second district led by District engineer Reynaldo Venturina had also just finished the widening and rehabilitation of the  Zigzag road in Mariveles town, making the vital road more safe.

“Actually my proposal is to make two-lane for ascending and one- lane for descending like what is designed in Zigzag road in Olongapo City ; This, is of course will make the motorists, particularly trucks loaded heavily with export materials to ascend,” pointed out Engr. Venturina.

The road widening and asphalt overlay along the Second district from Balanga city all the way to Mariveles had been initiated by then congressman, now governor Abet S. Garcia, with the support of then governor, now congressman Enrique “Tet” Garcia, making the expressway smooth and safety to motorists.

But with the impending proposal by Gov. Abet  to create a Metro Bataan Development Authority (MBDA), a wider Bataan expressway will be expected with the projection to have a 35 meters wide of expressway in anticipation of heavier traffic along the said highway.

Gov. Garcia said that some more investors have already expressed their interest to pour in their investment in Bataan, particularly in Limay and in Freeport area of Bataan.
