Orani hurdles PGS Revalida

ORANI, Bataan – The municipal government of this first-class town led by Mayor Efren “Bondjong” Pascual, Jr. on Friday held its Performance Scorecard Workshop and Revalida of Initiatives, Metrics and Targets at the Peninsula de Bataan Hotel and Resort, this town.

The said activity was graced by lawmakers from the first and second districts of Bataan, Congresswoman Geraldine B. Roman and Cong. Joet S. Garcia. Provincial Board Member Rey Ibe, Vice Mayor Godofredo “Bong” Galicia, department heads and employees, and other stakeholders.

Facilitated by the Institute for Solidarity in Asia (ISA), the workshop is part of the municipality’s Performance Governance System (PGS), wherein stakeholders tackled how to attain the town’s Vision that by the year 2020, Orani will be on the “Top 5 Ecotourism Destinations in Central Luzon.”

Ang ating bayan (Orani) ay nasa tamang direksyon na tinatahak dahil sa tamang pagpaplano na ginagawa ng ating Pamahalaang Bayan,” Roman said in her brief speech.

Meanwhile, Cong. Garcia said, “Ito po yung pagpaplano para sa ating bayan, para sa ating probinsiya. Mahalaga po na meron tayong sinusundan, meron tayong pangarap at meron tayong paraan kung paano natin maaabot ang pangarap na yun.

Garcia introduced PGS to Bataan in 2008 when he was the city mayor of Balanga City with the Vision: “Balanga as University Town 2020”

ISA introduced Kaplan and Norton’s Scorecard to the Philippine public sector as the Performance Governance System (PGS) with the idea of contributing to national progress by teaching government institutions how to create, execute, and sustain effective development plans. Since then, the PGS has grown into more than just a strategy management concept. For many public sector institutions, it has become a pathway out of corruption and into a progressive and sustainable future.
