DPWH 2nd District Engineer Reynaldo Venturina, told this writer that the DPWH will actually construct a new bridge to replace the existing but already dilapidated Camacho bridge which is said to be more than 60 years old already. “Actually, the DPWH will just construct a new bridge to replace the existing old bridge to minimize the expenses for right of way payment since this is very costly,” pointed out Engr. Venturina.

Venturina said however that “the DPWH regional office is the agency implementing this project and that his office will just monitor and assist them.”

Earlier, Mayor Alice Pizarro of this town had complained the apparent lack of information about the construction of the bridge in her town.    “Nagtatayo sila ng tulay pero di man lang kami ini impormahan; di namin alam kung ano ang nangyayari sa lugar namin,” lamented Pizarro.

The construction of the Camacho bridge was supposedly implemented during the time of now Governor Abet S. Garcia, when he was still Mayor of Balanga City, but politics delayed its construction.

The Camacho bridge is a major thoroughfare linking this town and Balanga City. “Since year 2012, the DPWH has been compensating families whose houses will be affected and will therefore be dislocated but we are very careful in compensating them because there are other real owners who should rightfully receive the compensation; this is our main role in this project,” added Engr. Venturina.
