Revision of occupational safety and health law serves workers need

BALANGA CITY, Bataan – Vice Governor Ma. Cristina Garcia last Thursday, April 25 stressed it became imperative that the occupational safety and health law be revised to have it strictly implemented and be responsive to the workers welfare.
Speaking before more than 1,000 safety officers and officials representing both private enterprises and public sector during the Occupational Safety and Health Summit held at the Grand Ballroom of Lou-is Restaurant ,the Vice Governor expressed her gratitude to the organizers of the timely holding of the highly-significant event for the purpose of adopting Republic Act 11058 “an Act strengthening compliance of occupational safety and health and providing penalties for violation thereof”.

She cited the unfortunate manifestation of two earthquake incidents that hit Central Luzon and Samar last Monday and Tuesday which were classified as “Force Majeure” that no human foresight could anticipate, were too strong to be controlled and reminded her of how relevant and essential to Bataeños, the first local government unit Health and Safety Summit held in the country.
However, she elucidated since we cannot control acts of nature, what we can do is to mitigate its ill effects to save lives and properties, and for this matter, awareness is a basic requirement.
