The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) launched last January 25, 2021, the Covid-19 RT-PCR (reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction) test using saliva that the Department of Health (DOH) has already approved.
According to PRC Bataan Chapter Administrator Charlie Gatbunton, the Saliva RT-PCR is accessible at their office starting today, February 9. The difference between the Saliva RT-PCR and the Nasal Swab Testing is that it only requires 1 to 2ml saliva of the patient, cheaper cost at P2,000, and the result is within 12 to 24 hours. Tourists can avail of the Saliva RT-PCR during their local travels. Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) are still required to undergo Nasal Swab Test upon arrival in the Philippines.
For those who want to avail of the Saliva RT-PCR at the PRC Bataan, the schedule is from Monday to Friday from 9 am to 1 pm. Payment is through Security Bank. If you have further questions, you may contact them at 09778504817, or you may drop by at their office located at Capitol Drive, San Jose, Balanga City, Bataan.
