Noting it will further boost development in the municipality and provide jobs for residents, the Sangguniang Bayan (SB) of Mariveles led by Vice Mayor Lito Rubia is supporting the establishment of an economic zone here.
“Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque with his staff and representatives of AFAB went to our office to follow up the needed resolutions we will pass to establish the economic zone in the 200 hectares property he owned in Barangay Biaan”, said Councilor Tito Catipon.
The visit to the municipal council was a side trip of the presidential spokesperson who was the main guest in the turnover of the P41 million quarantine facility constructed by DPWH in Barangay Alas-asin to Mariveles LGU.
Catipon said the economic zone will be registered as part of the Freeport Area of Bataan. He added the economic zone will have residential, commercial, and industrial areas. He also said a power plant will also be built inside the economic zone.
Other members of SB Mariveles who support the new ecozone are Councilor Angel Sunga, Councilor Susan Madla-Murillo, Councilor Harry Golocan, Councilor Arnold Arcenal, Councilor Joey Carandang, Councilor Turing Isip, ABC President Jun Villapando, and SK Federated President Vincent Banzon.
