Sen. Zubiri graces Pawikan Festival 2019

“I support fully, the programs of your provincial government to protect the pawikans“, Guest of Honor and Speaker Sen. Juan Miguel Zubiri said during the annual Pawikan Festival in Morong last December 1, where he congratulated Bataan in its efforts in preserving the environment.

Governor Abet Garcia, Vice Governor Cris Garcia, 1st District Representative Congresswoman Geraldine Roman, 2nd District Representative Congressman Joet Garcia, municipal mayors, government employees, teachers, students, NGOs, environmentalists, and tourists attended the event.

“Kung titingnan po ang survey ng Philippine Statistics Authority, nandoon po kayo sa napakababa pagdating sa poverty incidence that is due to the efforts of your sustainable development program kaya saludo po kami sa inyo, lalong lalo na kami sa Mindanao, mayroon pa kaming problema sa kahirapan, dito sa Bataan ay na overcome na po ninyo, kaya ako po ay tumutulong sa inyong mga leaders.” said Senator Zubiri.

Pawikan Conservation Center Chairman Manolo Ibias and his team were awarded plaques in recognition of their efforts in preserving the endangered pawikans. Dinalupihan Mayor Gila Garcia led the oath taking for environmental protection.

Walk for a cause, photography contest, sand sculpture contest, environment forum, paddle painting contest, environment fair and beach party were the activities simultaneously happening throughout the day.

Contenders coming from the 9 municipalities and lone city of Balanga competed in the Dance Festival Contest. Dinalupihan bagged the award for the Provincial Category while the Province of Tarlac bested the provinces of Tarlac and Bataan for the Regional category.
