Also adjudged as “Outstanding City Social Welfare Development Office was City of Balanga under the leadership of Gloria Abejar, and Outstanding Social Welfare Officer was Alfreda Tañuecoz, head of Mariveles Municipal SWDO.
Apostol received a plaque of recognition from Secretary Corazon Juliano-Soliman in a ceremony held during DSWD’s 63rd anniversary celebration.
In a media statement, DSWD said Apostol was cited for her “resourcefulness, innovativeness, networking and advocacy work.”
Among her notable accomplishments include raising funds for the repair of the center for children with special needs, developing a three-year partnership with a Japanese government-funded non-government organization for a capability-building program of house parents and caregivers, tapping the provincial government of Pampanga for a donation of one covered court and a dormitory with beds and beddings that can accommodate 40 girls, implementing a monitoring strategy which aims to promote public governance, and establishing an Inter-agency Regional Task Force for Bajaus.
Apostol previously bagged the Lingkod Bayan Award of the Civil Service Commission in 1996, Best Social Worker Award of the Philippine Association of Social Workers in 1998, and Best Assistant Manager of DSWD in 2008.
