Solar-powered streetlights for Roman Expressway

The province’s main artery, the Roman Expressway, will soon be lighted with solar-powered streetlights.

This was reported by Bataan Governor Abet Garcia thru his Facebook Page post as solar-powered streetlights were installed at the portion of the Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway or SCTEx Bataan entrance in Hermosa last Tuesday.

The Governor said this project aims to ensure the safety and comfort of motorists, and at the same time contribute to environmental protection by using renewable energy.

Solar-powered lights are dependent on the heat energy is given off by the sun, storing as much of it throughout the day. Experts say streetlights require lesser maintenance than conventional street lights and have lower chances of overheating. Since solar wires do not have external wires, the risk of accidents is minimized.

Governor Garcia further added that based on the project proposal, the solar-powered streetlights will be installed in the entire stretch of the 68-kilometer Roman Expressway from the Bataan-Pampanga border in Barangay Balsik, Hermosa up to the Mariveles Zigzag Road.
