SSS uses text messaging to assist members

BALANGA CITY, Bataan – The Social Security System (SSS) is using text messaging to assist its members, social officers said during the recent media forum here.

SSS officers VP Marissu G. Bugante, Public Affairs and Special Events Division; VP Vilma Agapito, Luzon Central I Division; AVP Ma. Luisa Sebastian, Media Affairs Department; Balanga SSS Branch Head Joel Villafuerte; and Mariveles SSS Branch Head Jordan Herrera spearheaded the forum.

Text SSS facility is a text-based information service that allows a member to inquire about the number of his contributions, loan application status, loan balance, status of  benefit claim, document requirement in filing benefit claim and membership registration, change in member record, SSS branch location, and feedback on SSS concern through short messaging service (SMS).

The SSS said a member can register by creating a message using the format SSS REG (SSNUMBER) (BDAYmm/dd/yyyy) sending it to 2600.

Upon successful registration, the system will send a text message informing the member of his unique system-generated Personal Identification Number (PIN), which will be required in inquiries sent to the Text SSS facility (2600).

To know the different commands, key in SSS HELP and send to 2600, SSS explained.

The service fee is P2.50 for Globe and Smart subscribers and P2.00 for Sun Cellular subscribers.
