In a simple ceremony held recently at Lou-Is restaurant, Vice Governor Cris Garcia led the distribution of cash rewards for the top 30 scholars in each of the 11 towns and lone city of the province under the Iskolar ng Bataan (INB) program. Health protocols to prevent the spread of Covid 19 were strictly observed.
Each scholar received P 5,000 incentive. The top one in each town received additional P5,000 and the overall topnotcher another P5,000. Therese Joyce Dela Pena from Orani emerged overall topnotcher. She received a total of P15,000 cash reward.
“Continue studying hard to achieve your dreams. The provincial government through the leadership of Gov. Abet Garcia is here to help you. The Iskolar ng Bataan program will continue to help students of Bataan get education” , said Vice Gov. Cris Garcia in her short message during the ceremony.
Before becoming vice governor in 2017, Garcia was the original coordinator of the Iskolar ng Bataan. She held the position since the hatching of the scholarship program in 2004. She now serves as adviser of the program.
