CAPITOL GROUNDS, Bataan – Ms. Elizabeth R. Garcia, Social Security System (SSS) Balanga Branch Head, last Monday announced during the Flag Raising Ceremony that all 406 Job Order employees of the Provincial Government are now covered by the SSS. This announcement coincided with the presentation of the ceremonial check issued by the Provincial Government to SSS in the amount of P 423,690.00 covering the months of August, September and October of this year. Atty. Joey Angeles of the Legal Department; Mrs. Alice Magpantay, Provincial Accountant; Board Members Gaudencio Ferrer and Jose Villapando; heads of the different departments and top level personnel from SSS Bataan Branch also witnessed said event.

This development came as an offshoot of a Memorandum of Agreement entered into by the Social Security System and the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), ensuring the SSS coverage of all contractual and Job Order personnel who are covered by a contract of service with the LGUs but not covered under the GSIS Law by requiring them to register as SSS self-employed members.

Being a government-owned and controlled corporation, SSS is mandated by law to provide social security protection to all self employed persons and other qualified Filipino workers regardless of trade, business or occupation.

This in effect, will provide said personnel protection against the hazards of disability, sickness, maternity, old age, death and other contingencies that the SSS offers.
