SAMAL, Bataan -The municipality of Samal is tapping the Police Hotline Movement Incorporated (PHMI) volunteers in the maintenance of peace and order.
Yolanda Paulo, PHMI provincial directress, said Lady Mayor Gene Malibiran has assigned members of PHMI Samal Chapter on the main streets of the town to assist in the peace-keeping and orderliness of the municipality every Mondays and Saturdays.
The PHMI provincial directress added that their members are very useful especially on Saturdays when crowds of local buyers patronize the “bargain” and ukay-ukay sellers in Samal.
Ramon Aquino, PHMI Samal Chapter president, has been cited for efficient leadership. The PHMI is a volunteer national peace-keeping organization formed by former Police General Edgar Aglipay, to help in the maintenance of peace and order. The group is also active in civic works.
A few months ago, the peace-keeping volunteer group and radio group REACT joined together in sprucing up the Sto. Nino Chapel in Sitio Pugadlawin, Barangay San Juan, Samal. Paulo said they have at least 300 volunteer-members deployed all over the province, particularly in the towns of Dinalupihan, Hermosa, Limay, and Samal.
